October 22nd (MAYBE – Review)
Getting into prep mode for my Patagonia trip! Around 2:30, I headed to Plaza Constitución (kind of the hub for city transit, just a quick walk from the apartment). Although I’ve passed it plenty of times for the bus, it was my first time going inside—and it’s surprisingly beautiful! I met a woman there to pick up an insulated jacket I’d bought on Facebook Marketplace. She asked me where I was from, saying she guessed from my slightly rough Spanish over our messages, but gave me a nice compliment anyway.
Afterward, I took a different route to Coto to grab some essentials: laundry detergent, almond milk, hummus, and, of course, jalapeño pita chips—we go through those way too fast. After dropping off groceries, I set out again to print my election ballot. The election commission had emailed instructions to print, fill, scan, and send it back, so I found a little librería nearby. In no time, I had my ballot in hand, read up on the issues, filled it out, snapped some photos, and sent it back.
Later on, Nai and I had a creative session—she was working on sewing, and I did some journaling and interpreting my spanish poetry book while we watched a Colombian show set in the 70s. We weren’t done there, though: Nai suggested we bleach my eyebrows for an upcoming photoshoot she’s planning. With nothing too serious going on (well, except for some job interviews, lol), I thought, why not? I’d grabbed a box of hair dye from Coto earlier, and minutes later, Nai was painting it onto my brows. After about 15 minutes of slightly burning brows, we wiped it off, and there they were—barely-there eyebrows. Definitely a new look, but I think I’m into it. Makes me feel like I look a bit like my Mormor. (˶˃ ᵕ ˂˶)
