January 19th
A dreary, rainy Sunday—perfect for baking and a cozy afternoon with friends! After tidying up the apartment, Nai and I lit some candles, turned on some sleepy jazz, and got to work baking chocolate chip cookies. The goal was a classic chewy cookie with chocolate chunks. And we almost nailed it… except for a little parchment paper mishap. I’m still not entirely sure what went wrong—the parchment paper seemed like the same kind I always use—but when the cookies came out of the oven, they were plastered to the paper. Even greasing the parchment was unsuccessful. Oops! Looks like our guests were getting cookies with a little extra papery crunch.
Later in the afternoon, a couple of Nai’s friends—actor/filmmakers she’s worked with on short films—came over to share maté and hang out. We all gathered around the table, passing maté, chatting about movies, and sharing updates on everyone’s latest creative projects. The cookies (after some strategic paper-peeling) got surprisingly good reviews, and the afternoon turned into a warm, inspiring hangout and a memorable day with new friends.
